Art, for me, is about a story, be that the story of a place, of a person, or even of a color. My work has thus far needed to be about place. All of my explorations somehow circle back to this idea of the landscape, the farm, and home. I continue to be intrigued by the intersectionality of progressive thought in a predominantly conservative area, of the in-the-know, organic-foods, urban and suburban consumer and the feed-the-world-by-any-means-possible, down-to-earth, rural farmer. As my observations and theories collide in the real world, I am left to simply ponder the vastness and utter beauty of the everyday, the ordinary, the commonplace. What does is it all mean to me? To others? To anyone? To itself? I hope to convey a strong sense of a place’s narrative, allowing each place itself to tell its story.
